Our Trustees

Trustee Board Bios

Connor Acton

Connor has been Chair of Trustees for the past six years and is incredibly proud of the work the branch has undertaken in that time including the Pandemic management period; completion of our ambitious Vet Facility build and merger with Peterborough branch to name just a few key areas.

Dogs have featured in his life from birth, and some smaller pets too, and he has a deep appreciation for the work completed by everyone involved with Woodside Animal Centre to educate the public, enrich the lives of animals and save those animals who are in most in need.

In his own working life, Connor is a Deputy Headteacher within secondary education – they say never to work with children or animals… he’s declined to comment on that one!

Connor brings a firm knowledge of leadership and governance to the Board of Trustees, alongside an education background rooted in IT and Business. Connor feels it is a privilege and a pleasure to be a part of the Board of Trustees at Woodside and he continues to strive for the best for the Branch.

Paula Clark – Trustee

Paula currently works at Board level in the local NHS system.  She is also a Non-Executive Director for Benenden Hospital Trust. Before her retirement from full time work she spent over 20 years in Chief Executive roles in the NHS at four hospital Trusts.

During her 26 year career with the NHS, Paula worked in chair and non-executive roles on a number of boards in different organisations including NHS network Boards and two Universities. Her pre-NHS career was in sales, marketing, public relations and further education.  A business school graduate with a Masters in Business Administration, Paula also holds post graduate marketing and coaching qualifications.

Paula is passionate about supporting the cause of animal welfare both at home and abroad along with the wider environmental issues facing wildlife.  She currently shares her home with Meg, an ex-Woodside resident and looks after five rescue horses and ponies.

Dave Morrish – Trustee

Dave spent all of his working life in computing (IT) until ill health made him retire in 2000. IT has changed somewhat in the intervening years so don’t ask him any technical questions! Dave saw an article in the Leicester Mercury about 2005 saying the Woodside van driver had broken her ankle and a temporary driver was required. Dave loves driving and animals so it was a good fit. Dave was asked to become a trustee in about 2008 and has seen many changes since then. He lives in Glenfield with his two cats, Thomas and Archie, both from Woodside, and enjoy all types of DIY.
