Visit RSPCA Woodside Animal Centre
All education sessions at RSPCA Woodside, Leicestershire, Peterborough and Rutland Branch include a brief discussion about the work RSPCA Woodside do, a guided tour around the centre and the opportunity to see some of our dogs and cats available for adoption.
The ‘Careers and Volunteering’, ‘Being Safe around Dogs and Cats’, ‘Health and Behaviour of Dogs and Cats’ and ‘Fundraising Activities’ sessions are available to all ages and abilities.

- Being Safe around Dogs and Cats
Students will determine how to approach animals safely, including identification of cat and dog body language, and there will be a brief discussion regarding ‘dangerous dogs’.
- Health and Behaviour of Dogs and Cats
Students will learn about the health issues associated with different dog breeds. Students will also interpret key dog and cat body language.
- Careers and Volunteering
Participants will learn about careers and voluntary opportunities within the RSPCA.
- Fundraising Activities
Participants will identify the different fundraising activities they could get involved in to help fundraise for RSPCA Woodside. Practical- Students will help to weigh fundraising items or pet food for the upcoming community pet food bank.
- Adaptations
The students will identify the different adaptations of dogs and cats, and the reasons behind these adaptations.
- Nutrition and Digestion
Examples of animals brought into RSPCA Woodside Animal Centre, suffering from nutritional disorders will be discussed, as well as how we can prevent these disorders with appropriate foods.
- Health and Disease
This session focuses on the precautions taken to prevent animals catching disease, as well as measures taken to prevent the spread of disease between humans and other animals. The practical element will include a guided tour around Woodside where students can identify some of the disease prevention methods used.

A member of the RSPCA Woodside team can come out to tell your group about the varied work that we do. We can adapt any of the education sessions above and bring them to you. Additionally, we are happy to provide education sessions not mentioned above. We can tailor sessions to your group’s needs and can bring relevant resources to aid the session.
*We may also be able to bring a dog to the session to meet the students but this is dependent on availability and would need to be pre-booked.
