Further Education – Animal Management
Our Further Education programme focuses on the City and Guilds Animal Management specification but education sessions can be tailored to other City and Guilds Animal Management modules, or to the BTEC, T-Level or A-level specifications.

- The Roles of the RSPCA and its Influence on Animal Welfare Legislation
Learners will identify the roles of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) including media campaigns, and it’s impact on legislation over the years.
- The Roles of the RSPCA, Links to other Organisations, and Roles within Animal Care
What the RSPCA does including how they work with other organisations to improve animal welfare. The varied roles available within the animal care industry will also be identified and discussed.
- Roles of Rescue Organisations, Responsible Pet Ownership and The Animal Welfare Act
The work that is carried out at RSPCA Woodside, how we match animals to suitable homes and the impact the Animal Welfare Act (2006) has had on the welfare of animals will be discussed in this session.

Higher Education
University group visits to RSPCA Woodside will include the types of work carried out at Woodside Animal Centre and the process of rehabilitation of cruelty case animals. We can tailor learning sessions to specific module topics for Animal/Zoology university courses.
- Minimum no. of participants – 6.
- Duration – 90 mins. approximately.
RSPCA Woodside already has a partnership with the University of Nottingham’s Vet School, helping to train the next generation of vets and vet nurses by seeing the care and treatment of animals brought into Woodside.

Outreach to Further Education and Higher Education Institutions
Duration- 45-60 mins. approximately.
A member of the RSPCA Woodside team can come out to tell your group about the varied work that we do. We can adapt any of the education sessions above and RSPCA Woodside can bring them to you. Additionally, we are happy to provide education sessions not mentioned above, we can tailor sessions to your group’s needs and can bring relevant resources to aid the session.
*We may also be able to bring a dog to the session to meet the students but this is dependent on availability and would need to be pre-booked.
