Help Us Bring Hope to Dogs in Need

At Woodside Rehoming Centre, we care for up to 60 dogs at any one time—each with their own story, their own trauma, and their own need for rehabilitation. Every dog we receive deserves the best chance at a new life, and that starts with expert, compassionate care from a dedicated team.

Some dogs need little more than a friendly face and a daily walks. Others require patience, play, and the joy of human connection. But for many, the bond between dog and human has been broken. Rebuilding that trust takes time, training, and skill.

That’s why we’re reaching out to you. We need your support to fund essential scent work training for our team—a program that will transform how we care for the dogs who need us most.

Why Scent Work?

Scent work harnesses a dog’s most powerful sense—their sense of smell—in a way that is natural, mentally stimulating, and deeply rewarding. It’s not just a game; it’s therapy.

In a shelter environment, scent work can be life-changing. It brings joy, provides purpose, and can help even the most traumatised dogs feel safe again. Studies show that enrichment activities like scent games can significantly improve both the welfare of dogs and their chances of being adopted.

Investing in Excellence

We’ve already taken a big step forward: our Animal Care Supervisor, Lee Meyer, returned to university and is now a fully qualified Animal Behaviourist. With your help, we can continue this progress by:

Training our canine care team in scent work techniques
Equipping our volunteers with enrichment strategies
Elevating the standard of care we offer every dog who walks through our doors

This is about more than training. It’s about giving every dog the best chance to thrive—and to find a loving home.

Opening Hours

Centre Open for General Animal Viewing
We are open to the public to have a look around on Thursdays, Saturday and Sundays from 11:00 to 15:00
